openfd is a project started by itsystems Deutschland AG . openfd is a framework for quick and easy development of frontends for databases.

OpenFD is a framework for the development of  webtechnology based database applications. the goal of this framework is the quick design of new applications. As a first step you just have to define a  database with your tables and fields. Combining this database with the framework (editing of a few lines of the source code) you have the possibility to do many common tasks on databases. Creating and editing new records, sorting, searching and filtering. The graphical frontend to do this (with different views like table and formulars) is created generically by the framework.

After this initial tasks you can start to costumize your apllication. Many useful subroutines and functions are included in the framework like up- and downloading files, editing of texts, email, fax and easy creating of reports and analysis of data and so on.

Also user managment for login and access rights is implemented in this framework. Every user has the possibility to costumize his view to the application. His changes are saved in system databases.

The framework uses common internet technologies like Apache, PHP, MySQL and JavaScript.
